During the first week of October, Kaiser High School hosted its annual homecoming dance. Kaiser’s homecoming dance was a memorable event that brought together students, teachers, and other faculty. Students celebrated school spirit and enjoyed the night dancing and singing along to the blasting music! From the moment people began entering, the excitement filled the air as everyone looked forward to a night filled with fun!
On the night of the dance, the Junior and Senior leadership students set up and prepared the cafeteria, as the Freshman and Sophomores stayed after hours to help clean up the mess that was left behind. The cafeteria was transformed from a dining room to a colorful party zone. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as students arrived dressed in their fanciest dresses, fit to match the theme “Y2K”. Sammi Robles mentioned, “My favorite part of the dance was seeing everyone dressed up, and all their takes on the theme.” Many students attended with a date in hand, while others came with their groups of friends, all ready to enjoy the evening.
The music played one of the major roles in keeping the students captivated. With the live DJ playing many of the generation’s biggest hits, it didn’t fail to keep students singing all night long! Zayani Lei Machado stated, “I really enjoyed the music that was played, they were all songs I knew, so I got to sing along to all of them!”. At first, students seemed nervous or shy to get out on the dance floor, but soon everyone was dancing their hearts out through the night! The dance gave students a chance to let loose, express themselves with music and dancing, bond with friends and classmates, and make new connections.
Not only was there a DJ, but also a variety of foods and drinks to choose from. The food and drinks helped the students stay energized and hydrated throughout the night. Pizza, chips, sodas, and juice were available throughout the night. These easy-to-eat options allowed students to grab a quick bite between songs without having to miss out on too much of the excitement. The food added a comforting element to the night, making it even more special. After the dance, there was a lot of leftover food and drinks available for students to take home and enjoy on their own.
Beyond the dancing, this event offered other activities such as the photo booth, where students were able to capture their fun memories throughout the night with their friends. .Azuki Kaneko shares, “I was super happy with the way my friends’ pictures came out, I can’t wait to later look back on this eventful night!” There were many different props to choose from to add to the effect of the photos. It was a popular spot throughout the night, keeping the line long and busy. These photos will become great memories to look back on in the future.
Kaiser High School’s homecoming dance was filled with lots of excitement lasting throughout the night, and will be an unforgettable memory to most students who attended. The night ended with a fan favorite of “Mr. Brightside” which is a timeless, but still very popular song. This event was a definite success, creating a great experience that brought everyone together and left a positive impact on the school community, as well as starting everyone off with a fun fall break!
