The Kaiser cougars have competed in the wrestling Eastern Championships. Maxwell Calandra took the Eastern Championships title. In response to the victory Calandra said, “It feels great to be the Eastern Champ but it’s not the final goal. It’s great reassurance going into the OIA Championships and states.”

Calandra put forth a lot of dedication and determination to achieve this accomplishment and plans to continue working hard to progress. “Going into the competition I really just focused on the mindset going into the tournament. If I went into the tournament feeling on top of my game, I knew I could perform at my best.”

Calandra has been wrestling for three years and has plans to continue and achieve more success in the sport. Calandra says, “I would love to wrestle in college but education is first. If I can get the education I want as well as wrestling then yes, I’d absolutely like to wrestle collegiately.” Coming up in the wrestling season is the OIA Championships and states. After states Calandra would like to hopefully begin preparing for Western nationals and freestyle nationals.
