Track Season Incoming!

The track and field season is starting soon and the first meet is right around the corner! Preseason training to properly prepare for the season has been taking place since November, and the Kaiser track and field athletes are very excited to compete. According to Samuel Lorge, a returning runner from last year, “This season I have participated in preseason training that has allowed me to build up my body for the season. This build up will allow me to get faster while staying injury free.”

Official in-season practices started January 30, and practices are everyday Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. Athletes will be competing in different events ranging from sprints to long distance, along with field events. The first official meet is Saturday, February 18 at Kaiser and the Kaiser track and field team will be competing against other schools.

The excitement is high and the coaches and athletes have high hopes for the outcome of this season. When asked if he was excited for this season, Samuel Lorge said, “Yeah, it should be a good season as long as I am able to stay healthy. I am especially looking forward to watching my friends and teammates succeed.” Many athletes are aiming to qualify for states and others are aiming to just have fun. Regardless, it is going to be a great season for the Cougars!
