The Kaiser high schools 2025-2026 school year is coming to an unfortunate end. This school year was filled with many laughs and joys, as well as stressful and hard times. All together it created many meaningful experiences for all. With summer vacation right around the corner, students were surveyed on their summer plans. Students’ plans included travel to a different state or country, partake in a summer school program, focus on sports, or even just relax at home. A google form was put out to 30 people, asking out of three categories what their summer plans were. The three categories were, Traveling (where), Summer school, and Sports. Out of these three categories, traveling was one of the more popular ones. Fourteen of the thirty people said they were traveling this summer. Places in America like Florida, California, and Vegas were some of the more common places, while other students’ travel plans included places out of the country like Greece and Japan, and Canada.
While many students were planning on spending their time this summer traveling, a handful also have summer school on their summer agendas. Around eight of the students interviewed said that they would be attending summer school over their breaks, to get ahead on their credits in the upcoming school year. Sammi Robles shared “Going to summer school is making me feel more prepared and less stressed for the upcoming school year.” Many students are attending summer school classes to take more advanced courses, although some must take classes to fulfill graduation requirements. .
Sports were also a popular option amongst the three categories. Around eight of the students shared that over their summer breaks, much of their time would be dedicated to playing a sport. Sports that were included in the list were, swimming, waterpolo, soccer, and volleyball. Many of the students who chose sports as their summer activity mentioned that they would have to be waking up early in the morning for practices, as well as spending long hours during their days doing sports. Willow Baysinger commented “I’m not looking forward to waking up early, but I’m still excited to put in the work to improve over the summer!” Although sports are very time consuming, many students mentioned that they would still enjoy their summers by being able to stay active, and being able to improve their skills over the summer.
The interview showed that many students will spend their summers in different ways, while all being able to enjoy themselves. Whether they are traveling, learning new things in summer school, or improving their skills in sports, everyone is going to have their own experiences. As summer approaches, students begin to prepare to take a break from school, and relax their minds and bodies from all the stress.
